This Belial is not to be confused with the arch-devil Belial, who rules the 4th level of Hell. Belial is unsure why he
bears the same name as a prominent devil. He has had it for as long as he can remember, long before he even became a Balor. Belial is something of a rarity among his kind. While he is violent and merciless by human standards, he has what other
demons would consider a soft spot. He was exiled from the Abyss, along with 3 other Balor and several lesser demons who remained
loyal to him when he refused to slaughter 200,000 innocent people just for the sake of killing them. Shortly after his exile, he fought and defeated several powerful figures of the Elemental Plane of Fire and is now generally
recognized as the lord of fire. He does not, of course, rule the entirety of the Plane of Fire, but he controls more of it
and its inhabitants than any other individual. Belial and Merkava formed an unlikely friendship after the two were forced to work together to get rid of a pair of
extraordinarily powerful Shadow Dragons that were wreaking havoc on the armies of both lords.
