ShinRex, called "Rex" by most of his friends, spent most of his life in the Bluefur Gnoll Stronghold. Rex began training as a Fighter at a young age, but soon decided that he preferred the path of the Shaman. He is now the most powerful Shaman in Blufur history.

Rex and Merkava are close friends and frequently adventure together. They met while Rex was assisting a patrol near the Golden Mountain. The Bluefur patrol was attacked by a group of Goldfur hunters. Rex engaged the more powerful Goldfur gnolls so that his companions could escape. He would almost certainly have perished at the hands of the rival gnolls, were it not for Merkavas intervention.

After the founding of New Trondheim, the Bluefur ruling council appointed him the official gnoll ambassador to New Trondheim.
